What is Restorative Yoga?
Restorative yoga is a gentle and therapeutic style of yoga that focuses on relaxation, deep rest, and rejuvenation. Unlike more dynamic yoga practices, restorative yoga involves holding gentle poses for an extended period of time, often with the support of props like bolsters, blankets, and blocks. The primary goal of restorative yoga is to promote physical, mental, and emotional relaxation by activating the body’s natural relaxation response.
What is a Nurturing Stillness Yoga class like?
My yoga classes start with arriving, grounding down, slowing down, and starting to connect with the breath. We will then work through some gentle stretching to get the body ready to move. After stretching I will offer the invitation to move the body through some asanas (postures) to get the blood flowing. We will spend the last half of class in restorative asanas, holding each pose for 3-5 minutes. During the restorative poses, I will offer hands-on universal life energy assist. My class will always end with a lovely savasana.
